Blessed to have made it all the way through day 365 of the year. This has been such a year of goodness and one of personal growth along with development! I say a year of development in the sense that all the things both good and bad have developed and shaped me for the best that is yet to come in 2020. I have made note of my failures, analyzed them, learned from them, and moved on. With some failures also came some amazing memorable moments. I took the time to embrace and soak in each of those special moments. Those moments have forever enhanced and enriched me.
I am a firm believer that a person should not focus on the things they can’t change, mainly because time and energy is precious. Having self-worth and realizing that your time is precious and valuable is so important; therefore, your time should be focused on things and people who lift you up, enhance you, and elevate you to be the best version of yourself.
With that said, every person has a choice on how they accept and receive things. This is where I get pretty deep. When someone does something that doesn’t make you happy or upsets you – YOU have a choice in how you receive what they have done. You can either let it bother you or you can dismiss it and let it go. Move on, getting upset about it allows that person or situation to get the best of you. That person or situation doesn’t deserve your time or energy. Wasting that energy (which in that case, is negative energy) is not worth your time. Rise above it! This also applies to my earlier statement about focusing on the things you cannot change. As an individual, you have a choice on whether you are okay with the thing(s) that you can’t change OR you can say you won’t accept it or tolerate it and make the decision to remove yourself from that situation.
My focus in 2020 is to take my own belief of not focusing on the things I can’t change and wasting precious time or energy, but instead I will be the change I need in my own life. I will live by this quote: “I’m no longer accepting the things I cannot change…I’m changing the things I cannot accept”. What I have learned is that decisions to accept change as it is and whether you will tolerate and live with it or not, is a personal decision. That situation is different for every person. Whether it is a personal issue/situation or a professional one, it is a decision that has to be reflected upon and a decision has to be made to either live with what is presented or simply to “Be The Change” and find resolution to not accept it. Not accepting it may mean, you personally making a change to remove yourself out of that situation. It may mean ending relationships, friendships, leaving a job, career change, taking risks, being a voice, speaking up, an/or so much more.

As a person, you may not be able to change all things you can’t accept, but you can definitely be an influence. Use your energy to always maintain your moral compass and never lose sight of who you are. Always be true to yourself, positively enrich your own life and enhance/enrich the lives of those around you. Influence with kindness.
YOU, as a person have the ability to BE THE CHANGE! So, one of my goals for 2020 is to not focus what I can’t change, but rather to either be okay and accept it because I can live with it (it is what it is) or to change the things I can’t accept. I have learned as I get older, that time flies by quickly. You only have one life, so living in that moment is important. I plan to live the “Dash” between my years with intent and purpose.
Looking forward to an exciting year and ready for my story to unfold. I hope to inspire more and I am happy that you are a part of my journey! Wishing each and every one a prosperous, healthy, and Happy New Year in 2020!!!
