Ever have a deep-seeded thought in your mind or a conviction that you are so set about that you just know there isn’t even a point in trying to change it. Well, the thought behind me making this statement is my thinking that kimonos are not for everyone. Especially, not for me! I honestly had it ingrained in my head that a kimono did not look good on me. For starters, given my short stature I felt that every time I put a kimono on that it made me look even shorter. So, short that my legs basically disappeared. The other thing that was haunting me is that I didn’t think it was a very flattering look up top for me either.
However, when I saw this velvet floral patterned kimono, I instantly fell in love. I knew that I needed to figure out how to layer this and make it work on my body. I stepped out of my comfort zone and when I got home starting pairing it with different items from my closet. The look that really worked best for me was styling it with some skinny leggings, a cami along with a thin layering blouse then finishing it off with some chunky heels.
This styled look is perfect for Fall. Although the floral kimono is from Hemline, I wasn’t able to link the exact one, but have provided some other great floral kimonos to consider. With the flow(y) look that a kimono gives up top, the ideal way to style it is with leggings or skinny jeans. Go ahead, step out of your comfort zone and give a look or style you wouldn’t have considered a another chance…
