Oh, The Places You’ll Go

Sometimes my travels for work brings me to the most quaint cities across the US and I get the pleasure of discovering the neatest boutique hotels.  Last week that was definitely the case.  I started with a crazy travel day to Chicago for a meeting then from there had to travel to LaGuardia Airport arriving late into the evening.  If you haven’t flown into LGA in a while, it is a complete mess and undergoing construction due to a major renovation and re-haul.

Knowing this, I didn’t want to stay at any of the on-site hotels which are typically chain hotels, so I researched some new options.  I was super excited to find The Paper Factory Hotel which was located in Long Island City and was less than 5 miles away.  As I was in my uber at night heading towards the hotel, you could see the beautiful NYC skyline lit up with the Empire State Building in all its glory.  I could definitely hear Alicia Keys going through my head with…Big lights will inspire you, Now you’re in New York…

So, this extremely adorable boutique hotel charms you the minute you arrive and pull up.  They say you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover, but in this case you definitely can.  Check out how inviting the front is when pulling up at night.

Upon entering the hotel, the lobby is filled with character and the décor is so, so eclectic.  I felt like I was in an art gallery because the artwork was vibrant, cheerful and inspiring.   As much as I tried to figure out the predominant décor style, I finally just embraced it so I could take in and savor every detail.  First glance into the lobby, you are welcomed with a more rustic elegance balanced with a highly eclectic masculine touch.   Imagine leather couches complemented with unique artwork and floating ceilings made out of rustic cedar and accented with crystal chandeliers.  I would say it was very much a nice marriage of masculinity and feminism.

The center post of this stairwell is made of books!  How cool is that?!?

Very eclectic exhibit in the lobby…

Lastly, my actual room was beautifully decorated.  I mean if you have to be away from home, you want a room that is cozy and has all the “feels” of home. Here a pic of my home away from home for a night…

This piece of artwork below sums it all up…Not All Who Wander Are Lost!

And the most favorite artwork I loved was the one in my room. I think we definitely all should be in the pursuit of happiness, but I am grateful and blessed that I have found my happiness.   So, my motto is, I am in the pursuit of continued happiness.
